Johnny Bugarin

A Colorado native, Johnny Bugarin has been involved in barbershop since his sophomore year of high school (2010). He is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Music Education degree from Metropolitan State University in Denver, Colorado. He serves as the assistant director for the Loveland, CO BHS Chorus, the Valentine City Chorus. He also serves as the Baritone Section Leader for the Sound of the Rockies chorus here in Denver. 

Johnny has been a part of multiple vocal and instrumental ensembles ranging from the Laudamus Chorale to the Boulder Symphony Orchestra. In his time at the University of Northern Colorado he was involved in the top mixed choir under the direction of Dr. Galen Darrough, and was also principal bassoon in the UNC Symphonic band under the direction of Dr. Richard Mayne. 

His most recent accomplishment has been with his quartet at the Rocky Mountain District BHS Convention where his quartet finished third in the District competition. His quartet, "The Pine" has been avidly performing in the Colorado area and serves as the current Rocky Mountain District Collegiate champs (2016). The Pine qualified again this year in the youth competition for a chance to compete at the 2017 International Convention. 

Johnny's tenure as director of 52eighty started in September of 2015. He is humbled and excited by the talent that he is able to work with in the group
